Art Under the Oaks

Location: Postell Park, Pier Village, Saint Simons Island, GA

Held in the beautiful live oak covered Postell Park in the heart of the Pier Village, just steps from the ocean on St. Simons Island, the 54th Annual Art Under the Oaks Fine Art Festival will feature over 60 juried talented artists and skilled artisans from around the region. Showcasing an impressive and eclectic collection of handmade artwork, the festival will include a wide variety of two and three dimensional art, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, photography, textiles, wood, metal and glass. At this festival, there is something for everyone and best of all, it’s entirely free to attend! We hope to see you there!

Annual Ophelia’s Classic Car Challenge
TIME: 9am - 2pm

LOCATION:
Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation State Historic Site
5556 US Highway 17N
Brunswick, GA 31525
Located at intersection of US17 and GA99, one mile east of I-95 exit 42.

COST:
$8.75 for adults; $6.5 for seniors; $5.50 for youth. $20 to enter your car.

Come out to Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation for Ophelia’s Classic Car Challenge. Classic cars from all over southeast Georgia will be on hand all day vying for the championship in the 11th annual car show. Come and view the cars, vote for your favorite and then tour a historic rice plantation. Presented by Friends of Hofwyl and Classic Coastal Cruisers automobile club. If you would like to enter your car there is a $20.00 registration fee. Call for more information.

Your admission includes a guided tour of the 19th century home and non-guided tours of the plantation out-buildings and trails. An audio-visual presentation on rice cultivation and a museum at the visitor center are also included.

Georgia Florida Golf Classic
Bulldog and Gator fans alike gather on Jekyll Island each year for this traditional golf tournament held during the annual Georgia-Florida college football game, which is one of the fiercest rivlaries in all of college football. Held on Jekyll Island's beautiful 18-hole golf course, this tradition provides the perfect mix of golf, food and fun. Tournament fee includes two rounds of golf at the Jekyll Island Golf Club, a practice round, and all the food and drinks you can handle. A portion of the proceeds benefits the Jekyll Island Foundation.

Hofwyl Halloween Scavenger Hunt
TIME: 9am - 4pm

LOCATION:
Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation State Historic Site

COST:
Standard site admission, which is:
$8.75 adults
$6.50 seniors (62 and over)
$5.50 youth (ages 6 to 17)
Children ages 5 and under are FREE

Hofwyl-Broadfield Plantation will have a Halloween Season Scavenger Hunt all month-long during October. Visitors may participate daily, Tuesday – Sunday from 10:00AM – 4:00PM. Guests will be given a Scavenger Hunt map with instructions. Locations and clues on the map all relate to harvest activities. The site Interpretive Center will also be decorated for Halloween.

After picking up the Scavenger Hunt map at Hofwyl-Broadfield’s Visitor Center, just follow the simple instructions, find Halloween themed clues, and answer the secret phrase. Give the phrase to a Ranger in the Visitor Center to win a goodie bag with prizes. Participants can win an EXTRA PRIZE for taking and sending us a selfie from one of the clue locations!

This event is fun for the whole family and all ages! Admission includes access to our museum and plantation house tours.
